Burnett Injury Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for personal injury law, for trial work/litigation, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in clients' lives. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys in a collaborative and supportive environment. The associate will primarily assist on the personal injury side of the practice handling automobile crashes, premises liability, and other personal injury claims.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct prospective client intake calls and assess cases for liability and damages.
  • Handle and assist in all aspects of litigation – drafting pleadings, answering discovery, drafting and arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, trial preparation, and litigating cases in both the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and provide updates.
  • Stay current on legal developments and trends in personal injury law.
  • Support senior attorneys with complex case matters as needed.
  • Engage in networking and professional development opportunities within the legal community, including attending seminars, bar association events, and community outreach programs.

 

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar and in good standing. Bonus if also admitted in Washington, D.C., or other surrounding jurisdictions.
  • 1+ years of experience in personal injury law preferred, but recent graduates with strong internships will be considered.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service.

Compensation

  • $75,000+ and commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: CareFirst Health Insurance, 50% of individual paid by employer; 401K Profit Sharing Plan.
