How Your Old Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids Can Help Someone in Need

If you have a drawer with old eyeglasses, a hearing aid you no longer use, or an old cell phone collecting dust, you may have more than clutter—you may have an opportunity to help someone else.

At Burnett Injury Group, we recently learned more about the Lions Recycle for Sight program through one of our clients, who is involved with the Annapolis Lions Club. She brought a collection box to our office, and we’re now accepting donations from our team, clients, and members of our community.

What Is the Lions Recycle for Sight Program?

The Lions Recycle for Sight program collects used eyeglasses and hearing aids and helps make vision and hearing assistance more accessible to people in need.

For many people around the world, something as simple as a pair of prescription glasses can be difficult to obtain. Donated eyeglasses can be sorted, processed, and made available to people who may otherwise have limited access to vision care.

The Annapolis Lions Club also supports people in our local community. According to the club, it helps approximately 100 local individuals each year with free professional eye examinations and glasses.

The program is a great reminder that something you no longer need can still have meaningful value to someone else.

What Can You Donate?

Our collection box is available for:

  • Used eyeglasses
  • Hearing aids
  • Cell phones

You don’t need to worry about whether your old glasses are still your current prescription. If they’ve been sitting unused in a drawer because you’ve gotten a new pair, they may still be useful to someone else.

Cell phones are also collected through the program and recycled to support Lions Club projects benefiting military members and veterans.

How to Donate in Annapolis

We’ve placed a Lions Recycle for Sight collection box in the Burnett Injury Group office. If you’re in the Annapolis area and have items you’d like to donate, you’re welcome to bring them to our office during regular business hours.

It’s an easy way to clear out items you no longer use while supporting a program that helps people access something many of us take for granted: the ability to see and hear.

A special thank-you to our client for introducing us to the Annapolis Lions Club’s Recycle for Sight program and giving us the opportunity to participate.

Thank you for helping us support our community!

Burnett Injury Group is proud to support community organizations and initiatives that make a difference for people in need. We are not affiliated with or responsible for the Lions Recycle for Sight program; we are simply providing a local collection point for donations.
